Owen Hendry

Owen (B.A., M.Ed.) has
edited, proofread and indexed numerous high-visibility and
important publications, including Thabo Mbeki: The dream deferred. He has also worked on several titles that have
made the short-list for the Booksellers’ Choice Award, including
Midlands and The Children’s Day. Owen is a keen
model train enthusiast, plays the bagpipes with the South African
Irish Pipes and Drums, and enjoys international travel. He is
married and has five grandsons.

Kathleen Bartels

Kathleen (B.A. [Psych, English]; B.A.
Hons [Publishing Studies]) is an accomplished copy writer
and editor of academic and media reports, and has several years' experience as a newspaper
sub-editor. She writes, edits and proofreads a variety of
texts for clients ranging from NGOs such as the Human Rights
Commission and Soul City, to corporations and government
departments, including the South African Presidency and the
Government of Rwanda.

Elizabeth Sleith

Elizabeth has a B.A. Honours in English Literature and an M.A. in African Literature (Publishing Studies) from the University of the Witwatersrand. She has many years' experience working at a major daily newspaper in Johannesburg. She specialises in academic work, particularly in the humanities.

Johan Meyer

Johan completed a B.Sc. degree at the former Rand Afrikaans University (majoring in Mathematics and Psychology), after which he did a B.A. in Linguistics and German at UNISA. He works full time as a tour operator, dealing mainly with tourists from continental Europe, an occupation affording him the opportunity to put his knowledge of French, German and Dutch into practice on a daily basis. He is currently busy with a B.A. Honours specialising in Sociolinguistics.

Dr Syd Gosher
Syd (D.Litt. et Phil.) has
done extensive work on the Awareness Publishing Africa AIDS
Education series, and was involved in preparing the Jonathan Ball
Publishers reprints of Armed and Dangerous (Ronnie
Kasrils), and The Mind of South Africa and Tomorrow is
Another Country (Allister Sparks). Syd edited the
acclaimed No Cold Kitchen: A Biography of Nadine
Gordimer by Ronald S Roberts. A former superintendent of
education, Syd is married with three grandchildren.

Pat Botes
Pat's (B.A., H.D.E.)
specialist fields include medical journals, and school and college
text books. Pat is married with three grown-up children who are all
students at the University of the Witwatersrand – her daughter is
studying medicine, her elder son accountancy, and her younger son
biomedical engineering. She enjoys walking and going to gym for
exercise, and bird watching in the bush. Gardening, especially in
her herb garden, makes her happy.
